Oh yeah it's one of those nagged-about DA blog entries. Well excuuuuse me, princess! Yeah so the trip was and went, and here I am back home. Despite the fact I was so afraid the ship was going to sink. ^^' I don't know what it is... I do love the sea and water in general as an element, yet at the same time I'm afraid of it. The sea is so big and powerful; those dark, frigid waves could swallow me just like that. The ship was rocking as I went to sleep and all I could think about was that I should stay alert the whole time, in case something happens. :I I lay there watching the waves in the lights of the ship, and another passenger ship in the distance that apparently shared a similar route to ours (I slept on the upper bed, so I saw the view outside). Despite my slight restlessness, I fell asleep at some point... I bet it was the waves hypnotizing me and the rocking that did the trick. :3 And I woke up the next morning just fine, and not even from the bottom of the sea. x) The next night went a lot better, I wasn't that scared anymore. :3 And what comes to the crazy eating at the cruise buffet as I threatened to do, I really did EAT. Everything I wanted to try, I tried. And I also ate every kind of dessert too I was interested in (no use counting your energy intake in places like that ;D). And I drank wine: my alcolhol tolerance has gotten a little low at some point as I noticed. I enden up feeling a little funny after walking out of the restaurant. : D But oh yeah that was great, I wish I could have evenings like that more often, since in addition to the good food my company was great, too. ^^ And Stochkolm was great. Great and rainy. But it didn't bother me at all, since as I've said many times before I love rain. ^^ The narrow streets and alleys of Gamla Stan (the old part of the city) were even more charismatic when they were wet and grey like that. Water dripping from the awning corners and flowing along the edges of cobblestobe streets. At the same time the warm lights of cafe's, little shops and lanterns seemed so comforting and welcoming. I really do adore atmosphere like that~ yeah, I'm one of those freaks. x) The place has such a strong sense of history all around, I could breathe it in. I really do love that place and i feel oddly connected to it for some unknown reason. It's a bit sad how the loud tourist shops ruin the old city atmosphere (stupid, plastic stuff on sale...). :< I really don't appreciate the sight of "oh ever so funny beer-helmets" or "crazy moose" or whatever printed t-shirts on those streets. Ordinary shops sure are fine, nothing wrong with that but those plastic tourist stores are an eyesore. They should all move up to Drottninggatan. : p ... Anyways~ I found two things I bought along with me~ The first one is a shoulder bag that has a traditional swedish pattern of "Dalahästen" (it's a wooden horse) [link] in it. It was of local handicraft make. :3 I really do like that bag, even though the pattern clashes with most of the clothes I have. ;D or perhaps that is just why it looks so nice to carry around. I also bought a little wooden horse charm to go with the bag, so now it is just perfect. The other purchase was a real treasure to find, a beautiful woolen shawl. And I got it for quite cheap, it was on sale. :3 I took a quick glimpse at the shawl hanging in a rack outside a shop, but at first I just walked on by. But I went back to it a few hours after to take a closer look and oh how light and silky the fabric was! Even though being wool. And needless to mention (but I still will) that the shawl was also very beautiful (black, with red flower patterns in the hem and red on the inside. It has a japanese haori-like feel when worn "normally" but if I add a belt to it, it has "sleeves" and looks like a shirt wrapped over. It's a multi-use piece of clothing and in every way it's great and I love it! : D Yey for that awesome shawl. It's so warm and comfy, too. :3 ♥♥♥ Love it love it love it! ♥♥♥ Oh and the bad luck with camera issues kept on coming! As I wrote in my previous entry, I noticed in Espoo I had forgotten my camera back home. :< And after that notion I was supposed to lend my friend's camera for the trip instead. But sure it turned out that the battery was all empty and we couldn't find the charger for it! Oh man I was a little depressed there for a while. : p I decided first that I'll just take photos with my crappy phone camera if something priceless comes along, though pictures taken with it have no artistic value whatsoever being bad of quality. As we finally reached Gamla Stan I just couldn't bare the thought I wouldn't be able to capture the rainy face of it. So I went and bought a single use film camera and shooted with that. It's funny how easily I have gotten used to the joys of digital photographing, it is so easy and you can see the result right away, how the pic turned out. Now I have to live in excitement till' I get the photos done. I hope that they will be good. :3 Hopefully there's something good, so I could scan those and share them at some point. Oh I guess I have babbled enough about the trip.
